  1. Interesting piece in PhysOrg about the massive (in height) tsunami created by the Hunga Tonga blast. Early indications was that it started out at 90m, about 9x the size of the tsunami created in the 2011 Tohoku (Fukushima) earthquake but was not as destructive due to distance from neighboring land. Piece goes on to bemoan the gap in prediction methods for volcanic as opposed to seismic tsunamis. Note that some of the largest tsunamis have been created by landslides. Lituya Bay in Alaska (524 m) is the best (worst?) example. Cheers –
